World premiere of the second generation of the Citroën C4 Picasso compact van and its seven-seater counterpart Grand C4 Picasso took place in March 2013 at the Geneva Motor Show. The appearance of the model, which was already famous for its avant-garde design, has become even more futuristic, and the basis of a competitor to such cars as Ford C-Max And Volkswagen Touran lay down the EMP2 platform of the French PSA Group.
In 2018 Citroën changed names monocabs, so they are now referred to as Citroën C4 SpaceTourer and Citroen Grand C4 SpaceTourer, respectively. The company explained this renaming by unifying the line of high-capacity vehicles, since there is already a larger minivan on sale. Citroen SpaceTourer.
The C4 SpaceTourer is 42mm (4438mm) shorter and 4mm narrower (1826mm) than its predecessor, the first generation C4 Picasso. However, the wheelbase has grown by 55 mm (2785 mm), and the trunk has added 37 liters and is now ready to fit up to 537 liters of luggage under the shelf. If the second-row seats are moved as far forward as possible (the function is available optionally in the top configuration), then the trunk volume will increase to 630 liters. In addition to the electric tailgate, an optional function for automatically activating the mechanism with a wave of the foot appeared.
The new Citroën C4 SpaceTourer is available in 3 interior schemes: Wild Blue, Dune Beige and Hype Grey. They differ in combinations of finishing materials, a set of additional functions and equipment (massage front seats, folding front seat back, sun blinds, separate lighting lamps, etc.). In addition, a panoramic roof with an area of 5.3 square meters is available for the model. m and customizable LED interior lighting.
In addition to familiar options such as keyless entry, swiveling xenon headlights and a surround view system, the new C4 SpaceTourer can be ordered with speed limit sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, automatic braking at "city" speeds and a surround view camera. At the same time, the equipment includes a media system with a 7-inch touch screen and steering wheel controls, which can be supplemented with a 12-inch panoramic screen.
Engines: petrol "four" THP with a volume of 1.6 liters (150 hp, 240 Nm) and a 1.6-liter BlueHDi turbodiesel (122 hp, 300 Nm) with a Stop & Start system. Both are mated to a 6-speed automatic. The gasoline version has a combined fuel consumption of 6.4 l/100 km, while the "heavy fuel" car is content with 3.8 l/100 km.
Serial production of the Citroën C4 SpaceTourer is organized at the PSA plant in Spain.
