Citroen DS3 - the car with which the premium line of DS models began (the abbreviation stands for "other spirit"). Despite the fact that the three-door is undoubtedly inferior to the five-door Citroen C3 in practicality, in the originality of the design of the exterior and interior, the DS3 surpasses its relative on all fronts. Citroen DS3 received spectacular vertical "clips" of LED headlights, chrome lining on the sidewalls and rear roof pillars hidden from prying eyes.

Moreover, eleven body colors are provided for the three-door, four shades of the roof, which can be decorated with “graffiti”, four types of rims, the color of which can also be played with. The side mirrors are also individually finished. Inside, you can choose the color of the dashboard, gear knob and even floor mats with a pattern that repeats the graphics on the roof. In other words, if you wish, you can make it so that even in a multi-million city, the Citroen DS3 seems like a piece of goods.

But the suspension of the DS3 almost completely repeats the design of the C3 - McPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. However, dampers and springs have been retuned for better handling. The ground clearance has been slightly reduced, which is 20mm less on the DS3.

The car is offered in two trim levels: Chic and So Chic. In the first case, a VTi 1.6 engine (120 hp, 160 Nm) with multi-point electronic injection and a variable valve timing system is installed under the hatchback hood. The gearbox is a four-speed automatic. The second configuration is based on the THP 1.6 turbo engine (150 hp, 240 Nm), which is paired with a six-speed “mechanics” and turns the Citroen DS3 into a real hot hatch, firing up to “hundreds” in 7.3 seconds. Just the 150-strong version we tried for dessert in our test drive.

At the same time, already in the “base”, the model is equipped with front, side and curtain airbags, and the list of active assistants includes anti-lock brakes (ABS), brake force distribution (EBD), emergency braking assistance (EBA) and exchange rate stability (ESP).

Serial production of Citroen DS3 has been established in France.
